KAREN SIMON
Westfield
GRANT ADMINISTRATION CHAIR
Why did you join Impact100 Garden State?
I had just retired from a busy professional life, and I wanted to put my energies into an organization that was providing social support to the community. Impact100 is perfect for me because it exposes me to so many wonderful organizations that I would not know of otherwise.
What do you do in your role as Grant Administration Chair?
We ensure that the grants voted on by our members are paid out in accordance with what the nonprofits outlined in their applications.
What do you love about your role?
I love learning in detail all about the wonderful things that these organizations do with the money that our members donate.
What would you tell someone who is thinking about joining Impact100 Garden State?
Not only does Impact100 allow women to make an impact through their financial involvement, but they can get so much back by working within the organization with incredible women and helping accomplish our mission.
What is your professional and volunteer background?
I retired from a career at AT&T where I held various roles, but managed a team in network cybersecurity for the last 15 years. In addition to Impact100, I also work with the AARP Foundation to help citizens in Union County do their taxes, and work in various capacities at my synagogue.
