JULIE SHEPPARD
Morristown
VICE PRESIDENT
Why did you join Impact100 Garden State?
After living internationally for a decade in Switzerland and Brazil, my family and I transitioned back to the United States, arriving in New Jersey during the isolation of the pandemic. As my sons were heading off to college and it was just my teenage daughter at home, I found myself longing for a community that shared my values of giving back. The world was reopening and I was ready to reconnect. A chance Uber conversation led me to Impact100 Garden State, and I knew it was the beginning of a beautiful relationship. Having worked with nonprofits early in my finance career, I’ve seen what happens when people pool their talents and resources; the impact is far greater than anything we could achieve alone. Impact100 has allowed me to jump right in, learn, and lead. I am inspired daily by this group of empowered and like-minded women who bring goodness and kindness to our community through collective giving.
What do you do in your role as Vice President?
My role is to support our President, the Leadership Team, and our members in implementing Impact100 Garden State’s mission of awarding high-impact grants, building collaborative solutions that create lasting impact, and empowering women through our volunteer opportunities and member events.
What do you love about your role?
I am honored to support the Joint Grants Committee—the true heart of our organization. I find deep inspiration in learning about the vital work of local nonprofits and seeing our mission in action. Equally rewarding is participating in our 'Out & About' events, which build the friendships and education that fuel our community. I am passionate about empowering women and developing the strategies necessary to ensure we continue meeting the evolving needs of both our members and our nonprofit partners.
What would you tell someone who is thinking about joining Impact100 Garden State?
Impact100 Garden State brings together incredible women to share their talents, ideas, and collective resources to strengthen local nonprofits that do vital work in our communities. We invite you to join our network of women changemakers. Your contributions are handled with total transparency, ensuring every dollar fuels vital local nonprofits. If you’re looking to give back alongside an amazing group of women, you’ve found your home. We ensure your generosity creates meaningful change for local nonprofits while respecting your time—you can be as hands-on or behind-the-scenes as you like. Your level of involvement is up to you. Come be part of something bigger — join us and empower organizations to make a difference in people’s lives.
What is your professional and volunteer background?
I spent 12 years at Procter & Gamble in Finance and Sales in financial analysis, P&L management, strategic planning, and customer development, but some of my most
meaningful work during that early time in my career was volunteering with nonprofits, serving women and families in the Baltimore community. I served as the Community Vice President for JLB, Board Member of the House of Ruth, a domestic abuse treatment center, and Founder of the Women’s Independent Network (WIN), an innovative program focused on empowering abused women through job skills training, employment support, and pathways to long-term independence.
When we moved abroad, I left P&G and poured my energy into raising our kids, managing relocations and family transitions. Additionally, I served as President of the PTA for both international schools, Collège du Léman in Geneva, Switzerland and Escola Americana do Rio de Janeiro (EARJ), where I led cross-cultural teams,
strengthened community engagement, worked with local nonprofits, and managed large-scale events and initiatives. When we moved back to the States, I joined Impact100 Garden State in 2025 and served on Grant Review, led a site visit, and participated in recruiting new members on the Membership Committee, and worked with members of the LT to deepen my knowledge and understanding of Impact100. It is a privilege and an honor to serve on the Leadership Team as your Vice President.
