Impact 100 Garden State is an all-volunteer organization for women that collaboratively makes large grants to local nonprofits within our five-county area of Morris, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex and Union. Each year, members’ donations of $1,000 each are pooled to award a high-impact transformational grant of at least $100,000 to nonprofit(s) that are selected through a rigorous grant review process and ultimately, a one member/one vote process. 100% of members’ donations are used to fund grants.
We seek to fund extraordinary programs in five focus areas: Arts & Culture; Education; Children & Family; Health & Wellness and Environment, Recreation & Preservation. Thanks to our collective giving, since our initial grant year in 2013 and through our 2020 Annual Awards, Impact 100 Garden State has awarded over $2.0 million for nonprofits in our service area.
What is the cost of membership?
We offer two membership levels; both levels earn you a vote at the Annual Awards Meeting in June. 100% Membership = $1,000 or 110% Membership = $1,100. The extra $100 is applied to our operating expenses such as printing, software, website, and account management fees. We are an all-volunteer organization and are grateful to the women who choose the 110% option.
When can I join?
Anytime. However, the deadline to participate in the grantmaking cycle and to vote at the Annual Awards Meeting is January 31. Women joining after January 31 may participate in Impact 100 Garden State events but will not have voting rights until the following grant year. The grantmaking process starts in February, with the grant recipients being selected at our annual meeting in June. The membership year runs from February 1 to January 31.

Is my contribution tax deductible?
Yes. Impact 100 Garden State is a special project fund of the Community Foundation of New Jersey (CFNJ), which is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. CFNJ serves as our fiduciary agent and we are covered by their non-profit tax-exempt status. This means 100% of your membership contribution is tax-deductible.
Can I purchase multiple memberships and receive more votes?
No! Although, additional gifts are most welcome, our founding principle is “one woman, one vote.” Every member gets one vote regardless of the size of her donation. Feeling generous? You can sponsor others to join Impact 100 Garden State. Please visit our Sponsor a Member page.
What role is there for me if I don’t become a member?
You can become a Friend of Impact 100 Garden State. You can make a tax-deductible donation, in any amount, to support our efforts. Donations are accepted via check, credit card, bank ACH transfer, or stock transfer. Although they do not provide voting rights, these donations help cover program and operating expenses that are essential to accomplishing our mission, growing our membership, awarding grants, and assuring our sustainability. Can my company pay for my membership?
Yes, your company can pay for your membership. Your donation may also be available for a corporate match. Please visit our Sponsor a Member page for more information.
If my/my spouse’s employer has a matching program, will you accept this donation?
Yes, you can double your impact! We gratefully accept employer matching gifts. Donations matching your membership contribution play an important role as they are applied toward program and operating costs. Please submit a matching request for your donation to your or your spouse’s employer. Some employers will also provide matching donations for retirees.
What are my obligations once I join?
Once you become a member, you are under no obligation to take on any other responsibilities. However, as a volunteer-driven organization we rely on member expertise to keep us moving forward.
